Airdrie Schools Cup

 

Seven Secondary Schools will take part in this years United Schools Cup football tournament. Unfortunately, Caldervale High is unable to take part in this years event.

 

The format will follow along similar lines to those of previous tournaments and the names of Airdrie Academy, Armadale Academy, Chryston High, Coatbridge High, St Ambrose, St Andrews and St Margaret's will be entered into a draw which will take place in the Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser office this week.

 

The first round will be held at 10am on Thursday 18th March at Espieside Parks, Drumpellier, Coatbridge. There will be one section of four teams and one section of three who will play each other once, These will be twenty minutes each way and the winners and runners up of each section will go forward into the semi final.

 

The semi-final will be held at 4.15pm on Thursday 25th March at St. Andrews High Parks, Coatbridge and will be a play off between the winners of each section and the runners up of the opposing section. These games will be 30 minutes each way and in the event of a draw, penalty kicks will decide the winners.

 

The final will be held at 7.00pm on Thursday 22nd April at the Excelsior Stadium Airdrie. Similarly, 30 minutes each way and in the event of a draw, penalty kicks will decide the winner.

 

The games are eleven a side, with rolling substitutes allowed and is open to first and second year pupils only.
